Welcome to COPA Academy’s basic practical instrument course for part-time learners of all ages & instruments!
COPA Academy’s part-time curriculum is a South African product that is not limited to a specific musical genre to be studied.
As a contemporary music institution, our offering focuses on the
- Bass guitar,
- Drum kit,
- Electric/acoustic guitar,
- Keyboard and
- Vocals.
We believe what makes our approach unique is that we allow freedom of choice when it comes to songs being learned provided it adheres to the given guidelines.
We have the option of 30-minute or 45-minute lessons available on a weekly ongoing basis.
To get the most out of the lessons, you will need to put aside time during the week to practise and implement the lessons covered.
Lessons may be recapped on numerous occasions as repetition is the key to being able to play an instrument (including vocals) brilliantly!

FAQ
Q. How will the lessons/courses take place
A. Lessons/Courses will take place weekly at one of our campuses.
Q. How will the time slots work for the lessons/course
A. Students’ will be given a class schedule for this course for in person classes at a campus near you.
Q. Things you will need for the lessons/courses
A. For lessons/courses to take place effectively the student would need the relevant instrument, a notebook, pen, the relevant COPA Academy book, access to a computer, and headphones (for online lessons/courses).
Q. How will they receive the lessons/courses books?
A. Once payment is received the book will be given in a hard copy format or emailed to them in a PDF format for online lessons/courses.
Q. What happens when I miss a lessons/courses?
A. Should a student be absent from a lessons/courses without timeous prior arrangement to reschedule, the lessons/courses will be charged for in full and the student will forfeit the lessons/courses.
Q. Rules of the lessons/courses
A. Fees are payable in advance (12 lessons can be paid over 2 installments). All part-time performance music students will be assessed during their first lessons/courses to ensure that they are placed at the correct level
Q. Use of COPA Academy Gear for Beginners, Music Technology & DJ Students
A. Use of a rehearsal room, for example, to use a drum kit, can be booked for two 30 minute slots per week, these must be booked 24 hours in advance.
